{"id":22451,"date":"2025-10-10T09:41:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T07:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dalminels.com\/?p=22451"},"modified":"2025-10-10T09:48:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T07:48:00","slug":"the-worlds-largest-automated-grana-padano-warehouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dalminels.com\/en\/the-worlds-largest-automated-grana-padano-warehouse\/","title":{"rendered":"The World\u2019s Largest Automated Grana Padano Warehouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dalmine Logistic Solutions<\/strong>, in close collaboration with leading companies in their respective sectors, is building an innovative facility for the aging of <strong>Grana Padano <\/strong>cheese at <strong>Caseificio Zanetti S.p.A. <\/strong>in Marmirolo (MN).<\/p>\n<p>The new aging facility, called <strong>GRANMAG<\/strong>, enables the <strong>fully automated<\/strong> loading, turning and brushing, grading, and shipping of <strong>Grana Padano<\/strong> cheese wheels.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How It Works<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>GRANMAG<\/strong> system uses racks that replicate the traditional wooden shelves called <strong>scalere<\/strong> on which cheese has been aged for centuries in Italian dairies, preserving the traditional maturation method.<\/p>\n<p>The true innovation lies in the <strong>separation <\/strong>between the aging area and the turning\/brushing area:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aging area<\/strong>: constant temperature and humidity ensure consistent quality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Processing area<\/strong>: robots perform turning and brushing operations with speed and continuity previously impossible to achieve.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Pioneer Company<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Zanetti S.p.A.<\/strong>, founded in the early 1900s by Cav. Guido Zanetti, has always invested in innovation. In 2018, his great-grandson\u2014who, interestingly, bears the same name\u2014oversaw the installation in Castelbelforte of the company\u2019s <strong>first automated cheese-aging warehouse<\/strong> (capacity: 180,000 wheels). After confirming its benefits, he is now leading, together with the younger generation (Rodolfo and Antonio), the new Marmirolo project, with <strong>almost three times<\/strong> the capacity: over 500,000 wheels.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Construction<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dalmine Logistic Solutions<\/strong> is responsible for the construction of all the metal structures, made from galvanized steel coils profiled in the company\u2019s highly automated production lines.<\/p>\n<p>The structure complies with all <strong>seismic safety and operational standards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Both structures and systems are designed to operate <strong>24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with minimal human presence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Winning Partnership<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The project is the result of the joint efforts of <strong>Dalmine Logistic Solutions<\/strong> and <strong>Zanetti S.p.A.<\/strong>, together with specialized partners such as:<\/p>\n<p><strong>DERO Group<\/strong> (robotics)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Advantages of the GRANMAG System<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With over 1 million cheese wheels already managed or under construction, <strong>GRANMAG<\/strong> sets a <strong>new standard <\/strong>in the aging of hard cheeses, offering:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>40%<\/strong> reduction in air volume required per wheel;<\/li>\n<li>Improved hygiene;<\/li>\n<li>Significant reduction in required labor;<\/li>\n<li>Substantial decrease in waste;<\/li>\n<li>Notable energy and operational savings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dalmine Logistic Solutions, in close collaboration with leading companies in their respective sectors, is building an innovative facility for the aging of Grana Padano cheese at Caseificio Zanetti S.p.A. in Marmirolo (MN).
